1)In what ways does your media product use,develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My magazine is like many rap magazines,Especially VIBE as many of my features are a lot like it. I have used a main image on my front cover which fits with pretty much every code and convention in every magazine. My Mast Head which is placed across the top of my magazine is in bold text and red font to stand out like any magazine aims to do to grab the readers attention. I have used page references on my contents page like every contents page aims to do to help the reader select a specific page.I have also followed most magazines by making one side of my double page spread text and the other an image.

2)How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My media product represents Social groups who are more to themselves and tend to be laid back and chilled. They aren't seen has socially rejected they just prefer to be alone as they get the true experience of a rap song, There life can reflect on a selection of songs. My media product is also for the stereotypical middle class has it is written in an informal way and isn't complicated.They can also relate to my media product has my main story is about a middle class boy become an international star.

3)What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Bauer Media may be interested in publishing my media product because they are one of the best in the world for publishing music magazines. They currently distribute 300 magazines across the world. Even though they don't distribute the magazine I focus on (VIBE) I believe they are the best one for my media product has they sell many magazines for a large variety of audiences so there isn't really any boundaries when it comes to accepting new ones. Bauer sell such magazines has 'Q' which shows they are well known and wont have much problem distributing my magazine.

4)Who will be the audience for your media product?
The target audience for my Media product will be teens interested in rap between the age of 15 to 19 has that is what the research shows. The magazine would have to consist of small eye grabbing detail has research also proves the male teen have a short attention span and prefers small snappy sentences rather than paragraphs. I believe that my magazine is more appealing to males rather than females has my questionnaire shows only a small percentage of females like rap. So to keep it appealing to the male teenager it shall be written in a informal way and shall contain small elements of slang terms to keep it simple for them.

5)How do you attract/address your audience?
I attract my audience in many ways through the use of things such has image,layout and content. The audience for my magazine are teens between the age of 15 to 19. so the methods I used was specific to this age group. The use of many images is a key factor on being specific to my audience has research proves that teens prefer images over text.The use of images has also set the target audience and establishes the genre and the stereotype that are into that genre. My magazine tends to be bright and basic as this is what people would expect to see in a rap magazine. But with my Double page spread I have shown that there is also a dark side to rap. I have showed this by making the background black and making my rapper look like he is coming out of the shadows ( a dark evil place) this establishes the genre of rap.This also shows that once again my target audience are teens. In my main image I have a rapper staring at the audience in a chilled and happy way. this is done to show the audience that he is proud of is success and he wants to inspire younger people. Finally I have used text relevant to my target audience, Knowing that teens don't like reading long paragraphs of text. I have made sure that I have plenty of images and very little text. it is also written in a informal way with some signs of slang phrases which appeal to teens.This will make them think that the magazine is made for then and they can connect and relate to what is said within the magazine.

6)What have you learnt about technologies From the process of constructing this product?
From the process I have learnt that Adobe Photoshop is very useful when it comes to editing and manipulating photos. has there are many tools that can assist you in many ways. such has been able to easily edit out the background when using a green screen has you simply use the magic wand tool and get rid of the green background. I also found that constructing a magazine on Photoshop is a lot easier than other programs such has fireworks has it offers a variety of text,font sizes and the filter on the image. also I have learnt that Photoshop is a lot simpler than other programs after a few lessons learning you can understand most of its features and put those skills into effect when it comes to editing. and finally it is very enjoyable experimenting with the features at hand

7)Looking back on your preliminary task ,what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Comparing my preliminary task to my final copy I can clearly see that my editing skills have got a lot better. Has I went from very basic editing to something a little more complicated. I believe that my preliminary task looked unprofessional has I didn't really put much time into editing and just threw everything on it and left it has it was. unlike my finally magazine where I used my developed editing skills and made it look professional by using more complicate methods. Now that I have created a magazine I believe that I understand genres and target audience a lot more and how crucial it is to a magazine.

(Construction) Audience Test
I have asked people what they think of the Content,Images and layout of my magazine and this is the feedback I got back.
Content:
I found out that the content was relative to my Genre and that the article was seen realistic and wasn't out of context.They instantly realised the target audience with the text being informal. They said that the article could of gone into a bit more detail.

I found out that my images could of been a little more professional but all the images was linked with the genre and wasn't something completely out of context. The way that my model poses for the pictures is also shown as a stereotypical rapper.

The new sensation Mad Sling who is already number one in over 13 country's with his new song 'Down To Earth' and is first album called 'Animal' who will ft such artsit like Kanye west will be released later this year. Mad Sling was first spotted last year on a talent show called Brits with talent. he was soon signed by one of the top rappers in the world Kanye West. In the next few months he expected to perform with great artist like Eminem, Kanye west and jay z He also starts a tour of america in two weeks which he will visit place like Washington,Los Angeles and many more places all the venues are expected to sell out. Mad sling said 'this is one of the greatest things to happen to me I mean two years ago I was just a normal boy with a dream and now I am performing with the top rappers out their'. Mad slings first performance was with another upcoming rapper Swaggy G when last week they performed at the Doncaster Dome. He stated that wont be the last time we see them performing together.

For my magazine I would like to have a similar layout to VIBE with a main image of a famous rapper which covers most of the front cover. The Main image will be of a single rapper staring at the audience in a relaxed/chilled way. I wouldn't want to use any props such has a microphone because I want it to be very basic. I would like my front cover to contain a couple of puffs and plugs but I would like it to be very basic. I would like my article to be about the rapper on my main image to keep in context with the magazine. I would like the article to be about an up coming album that the main rapper is releasing. The house style of the contents page for VIBE is a large picture with little text, it has one column also It has a brown background and it as white text. The picture is a picture of Eminem so it’s keeping the attention on the selling point of the magazine (which is Eminem). Once again the text is small and pushed to the side so it is focus Eminem(the selling point). On the right side their is small text which tells the reader what else features in the text but its left simple and has basic information because they want the attention to be left on Eminem. The tittle is all in caps but its small in the top corner. The colours are selected because its like hiding in the shadows and gives it a nice affect.The target audience tends to be aimed at teenagers. This contents page is very basic has it has no puffs or plugs so it outs the information to the minimal.

The text is small and may become hard to read but this is done to make the audience focus on the picture their is not any puffs or plugs that stand out which is a bad thing because its not giving much information about the magazine so the reader wont be given much information at first glance.

(Research) Analysis of 2 different articles
The house style of this double page spread is a big image taking one side of the page and little text on the right it has three columns and has the colours of black white and yellow. the image takes a full page because this magazine focus the attention on the rap artist. i don't think this is a good picture has it is not appropriate for a young audience. on the right side their is a big title with a little article about the rapper. the title says 'HOW HIGH' is a rhetorical question has it his saying how much of a good rapper can this guy become(become one of the best rappers on earth). The target audience for the magazine will be male teenagers has they can relate. I don't like this double page i believe the layout is good but the picture is inappropriate for a younger audience and could take it the wrong way because the quote 'how high' could mean something different to other people.
The house style of this double page spread is a picture taking a full page and little writing and has three columns. it has the colours of black,white and red. The picture takes the full page so it focus the readers attention on the rap artist so they know who the article is about. the rapper is facing away from the camera this is to show of the tattoo's on him and it also gives the affect of that he isn't concentrating on something else and not the camera.The text is small and only takes a quarter of the double page which shows that this magazine focus more on the imagery than the text which suggest that the target audience is men. the quote 'life of a shooting star' is in caps and highlighted is telling us that this rapper is one of the best around and you have to read this so you know what he is doing next this is a plug its giving us strong language on this rapper. the text is in black and is not the main focus for the magazine this is because they focus on the image. I think the lay out of this double page is good it focus the imagery and not the text and doesn't over do it. the background is white so it makes everything stand out
between the two I think the second one is better and I will take ideas from it this is because it has more strong language and looks more appealing to the target audience than the top one.

VIBE has the standard colours of black white and red. The Headline is in caps and is red so this indicates that its target audience is male. The main picture takes most of the front cover and the text is small and surrounding Eminem. the picture is a medium shot of Eminem the reason the picture is so big is because Eminem is the selling point of the magazine and many people know who Eminem is and will want to read about it.. their is alot of puffs surrounding the main picture with the colours of the black and red the puffs are giving extra information on what is in the magazine so the readers know what they are buying. the red text stand out more so the reader can clearly see what they are reading when they buy this magazine e.g. 'who is the best rapper ever?'its asking the reader a rhetorical question which makes them want to know who the best rapper is. all the text is sanserif. 'REAL RAP' is the motto for VIBE. The background of the front cover is white and Eminem vest is black to make him is tattoos and is cross stand out putting all the attention on Eminem has he is the main selling point. My magazine genre is RAP. The main magazine for RAP is VIBE which contains information on RAP related content. VIBE tends to have one main image on the front cover which consist of a well known rapper, This is done to attract the reader and gain there attention. (Research) Identify Genre/Target Audience
The target audience for my choice of magazine would male teens/young adults who are into rap. I believe it will be best to write it in a informal manner has it will be suited for my target audience has they like things simple. With that in mind it will be a good idea to place plenty of pictures and not to much text in my magazine has research proves that's what most males like.

The front cover of my preliminary magazine contains a large image of a new building within the school grounds. The reason of the choosing of this image is because it represents that the school is moving forward and giving the latest equipment and classroom available to its students. Another reason is its applying to the audience has they wont to no what is this new building,what's it for, what's in it etc.
The school logo is also on the front cover so its easy to understand what the magazine is about and who owns it. The Mat head 'EXCEL' Is big and simple to read and can easily grab the readers attention.
The colours are very simple and not over the top has it makes it look professional but still keeps to its audience (members of the school).
The puffs have been placed in a blue bubble to make it stand out and grab that readers attention and make them want to read on 'School children cant wait to use it' makes them think there's something special about this and reads on.

(preliminary) Preliminary task pre-production
Our preliminary task was to create a front cover magazine and a contents page. The magazine had to be a school magazine if the Armthorpe Academy.
To be able to complete our task to our full potential We had to do lots of research leading up to the task. The first thing we did was look at key concepts of a magazine front cover and contents page which helped me understand why front covers and contents page had certain things on them. These concepts where plugs, strap lines, main head and many more. We then looked at a couple of school magazines and analysed the front cover and contents page by using the key concepts
From looking at the Armthorpe Academy magazine I found that there is always an image that dominates the picture this is because students would rather have a quick read than take a long time to go through the magazine their also tends to be a student in the main picture this is used because the students can relate to it. The magazine tends to have plugs at the bottom of the page which tells you what the issue includes this will grab the reader as they know what they will be reading about without having to read through the magazine also the contents page is split into 4 or 5 columns also it only took one page and it didn't take much space.
Before I started making my front cover and contents page I looked at a range of magazine and their styles. I chose a magazine that I thought was suited for a school magazine. A magazine that influenced my design was a excel magazine has it is a good school magazine and a lot of my ideas came form that magazine.
As I went along making my front cover I changed many of my pictures and text. I started of with a picture that took only have the page but this left a lot of white space so I had to make so the picture took the full page leaving no white space and it made the magazine look more professional. I Also change my text layout as to start with the text was crammed in the bottom and it was hard to see. So I moved it around and made the text bigger so it was more spacious and easier to read I also changed the colours many times as they didn’t work some colours was to bright and some didn’t mix with the other colours so in the end I changed to plain colours like black. on my contents page i changed my tittle and moved alot of things around like the place of the text it when i started the text was all over the place and by the end i organised my text and made it look professional
Trough out the task I have learnt many skills in Photoshop I learnt how to cut certain parts of a picture using certain tools. I also learnt how to crop on Photoshop so the picture looks right and fits in correctly. i also learnt where all the tools required was and how to use them

(preliminary) RE-Written Article Informal to Formal
After months of hard work year 11’s were shocked to find that everything wasn’t alright. Some teenagers revealed that they had been assured by their ‘well knowing English teachers’ that they were guaranteed a ‘B’, and received a disappointing ‘C 'or 'D'.
Ofqual, seem to have cheated many pupils out of their grades by swiftly changing the grade boundaries at the last second, leaving a lot teenagers unhappy and upse .
Obviously, they have made an attempt of shielding their dignity by making a comment; “…and were part of the regulator’s work to ensure that standards are maintained, and comparable with previous years.” This is undoubtedly unfair, so they are trying to state that those who took the exams in previous years get an easy ticket to uni, where as the teenagers of today have to suffer even though their results were possibly better?
To add to the growing pile of rubbish Ofqual has come out with, Welsh student’s results are being remarked, and meaning everyone else in the UK
I myself hope the examiner boards pick up from this absolute shambles, as it really doesn’t look good for this country, along with all the other bad news we have been exposed to.

This contents page contains images and text Which informs the reader what is in the magazine.
Image
The main image dominates this contents page and crosses over both sides has it is the selling point of this magazine. The Larger image is also what the reader looks at has it tends to be the main story within the magazine. In this case it is an image of the game Gears of war which already sets the audience for male adults over the age of 18. Each of the image has a page number to help assist the reader. on the image or underneath it there are Plugs which are a few words what teases the audience and makes them wan't to read on 'Gears cowboy stanced farewell to the xbox 360' this makes the readers wan't to no why its farewell and what happened.
Text
The text in this contents page is very basic and simple to follow it is there to help the reader no where a certain article is. There are a few puffs which are there to give information to the reader on what is in the magazine.
House Style
The house style for XBOX 360 magazine is 6 columns with colours like green,black and white which are the colours of the console so it is keeping a link between console and magazine. It has many images that take up most of the double page which makes it simple and easy to read.
Main Image
The main images is of a really popular game franchise called gears of war (GOW) which is a reason of it being the main image has everyone who is associated with this magazine will instantly no what it is at first glance and instantly draw them into the story and with the quote 'Gears cowboy stanced farewell to the xbox 360' makes them want to read on.
(preliminary) Front cover Analysis
The mast head 'MATCH' is in big bold basic font this shows that its not to classy and is not aimed for the more upper class people. It is simple and suggest that it is aimed at the younger audience (age 10-15). With it been in bold capitals and having an explanation mark shows that its shouting out to its audience to buy this magazine and grabbing the readers attention instantly.
Feature Article Photo
This photo is a photo of two well known stars in the football world (Samuel Eto'o and Didier Drogba) this has been done to catch the reader attention has no one wants to read an article on a unknown person. It tells the reader that you need to buy this magazine to get the best information of the most famous footballers and that no other magazine can provide the same.
Price
The price on this front cover is pretty big for a price tag this is done to give the effect of that it is a great deal for what they are providing.
Main Cover Line
The main cover line 'the players ripping up world footy' is stating to the reader that there is stories about stars that are at there prime,The stars that everyone is talking about and what the audience want to know about.
Puff
The puff 'HOT STARS!' is a emotive phrase that will attract the audience. Its shouting to them that there is alot of news about the top stars in the world of football and interesting stories which will blow your mind.
Plug
'MEGA FIFA 11 TIP POSTERS' this is used to convince the audience they are getting the best for there money by adding in free gifts because everyone likes free things and it makes them want to get it.
Bar code
the bar code is on the right side and is pretty big which is strange has they tend to be small and out of the way.
Target Audience
The target audience for this magazine would be male aged between 10-15 has it is simple to read and has plenty of images
